Obituary

Brandon Cortez Kirksey (aka King KB, The Artist), was born to Shelly R. Kirksey and Eddie L. Caddell, on March 12, 1984. An adorable little boy, Brandon attended Oaklawn Elementary and Hamilton Middle School in Wichita, Kansas. KB excelled in JROTC at Southeast High School in Wichita; and graduated from Lawrence Gardner High School in Topeka, Kansas. An exceptional athlete and fierce competitor; Brandon played football, basketball, and also enjoyed wrestling.

Known simply as "KB" to his family and friends, he was full of life. KB never met a stranger, and was loved by all who knew him. Always full of energy and never at a loss for words, friends and family could count on there never being a dull moment when KB was around! Described as "goofy" and "crazy" by his oldest niece LaDajah; KB was known for his nonstop jokes, hilarious antics and raucous laugh.

KB's extraordinary creativity was evident at a very early age. A gifted entertainer, he loved being the center of attention. KB was comfortable being in the spotlight, and never disappointed his fans. A prolific rapper, he could "bust a verse" at the drop of a hat – the rhymes rolling off his tongue with lightning speed and seemingly going on forever.

KB's grandmother, Rubie Caddell, held a special place in his heart. She was always there for him with a prayer, a word of wisdom, a sweet treat and unconditional love. She was his rock; and he often found refuge in her presence when the trials of life left him in need of rest, rejuvenation and encouragement. Valerie Straughter, KB's aunt, also had a special bond with him – from the first day he was born. KB'S beloved "Aunt Val" never failed him; she was there from the beginning (providing the newborn outfit that he came home from the hospital in), to the end (hers was the last family member's voice he heard before going home to glory).

Whether KB was playing sports, making music or making you laugh; the light of his loving spirit always shined bright. He was an extremely family-oriented person who loved all of his children. He leaves behind his wife Sasha Roach-Kirksey, children Samara, Samajah, Zeyahnna, Alyja, Zakhi, Xavier, Logan, Tevin and Zoey; mother Shelly Kirksey; father Eddie Caddell; grandmothers Rubie Caddell and Vie tta Kirksey; his loving sister Danielle Kirksey (children LaDajah, Kiara and Ke'Von); brothers Chavez Kirksey, Eddie Caddell III, and Martez Ricks; uncles Steven Espinoza (Regina), Stanley Tipps, and Alan Kirksey (Dorsha); aunts Sandra Franklin, Diane Espinoza, Lynn Kirksey, and Valerie Straughter; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
