ZELMA ALPHONSO ANDERSON JR., was born on September 27, 1957, in Buckner, Arkansas. He was the eldest child born to Zelma Anderson and Christell (Chris) Webb Anderson whom both preceded him in death. He attended Southeast High School and Kansas Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.
Flip married Jacquelyn Kaye Clark, June 21, 1980, in Wichita, Kansas. They were married 44 years. Together they raised three children, Prince Floyd Anderson, Aaron Lynn Anderson and Candice Yvette Anderson.
Flip served in the United States Army for 26 years beginning his career as enlisted and retiring with the rank of LT. Colonel. He also retired from the United States Department of Agriculture in 2023, completing a total of 37 years of government service. Flip has lived in Gaithersburg, Maryland for 25 years. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi, and loved golfing.
Flip was an influential person offering wisdom, guidance, mentoring and encouragement to those around him. He made a lasting impact on everyone he met. His legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire us all.
Anyone who knew Flip understands what an incredible person he was. He was not only caring, and always willing to help others in any way he could; but he was also incredibly strong – both in spirit and character. His resilience, kindness, and unwavering support for his loved ones were qualities that made him truly exceptional.
Those who are left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Jacquelyn "Jackie" Anderson; sons Eric Anderson (Juliette), Prince Anderson (Marilyn), Aaron Anderson (Jill); daughter Candice Anderson (Jamal); grandchildren Kaylee Anderson, Sidney Maveritte, Logan Thomas, Makaya Vanderpujie, Prince Anderson, Ava Anderson, Ayanna Anderson, and Bomani Anderson; sister Shari Anderson (Shreveport, LA).; brother Roderick Johnson (Los Angeles, CA.);daughter-in-law Veronica Anderson; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Flip loved and deeply valued his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. We are all forever grateful to have had known him. His memory will continue to live in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed.
Flip was called Home Sunday, November 24, 2024. He passed away peacefully, and will be laid to rest in Wichita, Kansas.
