In Loving Memory of Vestella Definis Williams

October 17, 1941 – September 12, 2026

Vestella Definis Williams was born on October 17, 1941, in Tatums, Oklahoma. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was a longtime member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mothers’ Board and sang in the choir until her health prevented her from attending. Estella was the last surviving member of her siblings, carrying with her the memories, love, and legacy of the family she came from. She cherished her family deeply and found meaning in the time she spent surrounded by the people she loved. After attending Langston University, Vestella moved to Wichita, where she later married Arthur Williams. Although their marriage eventually ended in divorce, together they were blessed with three daughters: Michelle Overton (Troy), Carma Wesley (Byron), and Tenesha Williams. Her daughters were a tremendous part of her life, and she loved each of them in her own special way. Vestella, lovingly known to all by Granny, was also a proud grandmother to five amazing granddaughters: Mikayla Overton, Tierra Johnson, Kameryn Overton, Camorra Wesley, and Cortni Rogers. In addition to her grandchildren, Vestella was blessed with several bonus grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom added to the love and joy in her life. Family was at the center of Vestella’s heart. She treasured the moments spent together, the laughter, the conversations, the gatherings, and simply having her loved ones near. Her presence brought a sense of comfort and belonging, and her love created memories that her family will carry with them for generations to come.On September 12, 2026, Vestella Definis Williams peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her dearly. Though her physical presence is no longer with them, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the legacy she leaves behind will continue to live on through her family. Vestella was deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, Vestella. Your work here is done.
