Obituary

Valeria "Lil" Woods Barber was born March 19,1958 to the late
Curtis and Jimmie Lee (Warren) Woods in Columbia County
(McNeil) AR. She departed this life on October 22, 2025. One
brother, Harold Brian Woods preceded her in death.
Valeria accepted Christ at a young age at St. Matthew Missionary
Baptist Church in McNeil AR. After moving to Wichita KS, she
was a member of Surazal Christian Centers. She loved the LORD
with all her heart.

Valeria was a 1976 graduate of Pine Bluff High School in Pine
Bluff AR. She continued her education at the University of
Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) in Pine Bluff AR. She graduated in
1980 with a degree in accounting.

She worked as an accountant for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita KS for
20+ years. After retiring from Boeing, she took on the primary role
as caregiver for her grandson Gabreal. She also tutored children
in the community.

Valeria met and married Larry Barber while at UAPB. They were
married on June 17, 1979. To this union two children were born,
Marcus & LaShaun.

Valeria was a nurturer for her family. She loved, guided and
assisted them in whatever endeavors and decisions had to be
made. She always had a listening ear and soft voice to answer.
She loved her children dearly, but her grandchildren were the
apple of her eye. She loved to travel and shop. She loved coming
back to UAPB Homecoming and seeing all her classmates.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving and devoted
husband of 46 years, Pastor Larry Barber; her son, Dr. Marcus
Barber (Megan) of Lee's Summit MO; her daughter, LaShaun

Barber of Wichita KS; five grandchildren, Gabreal Barber, Nasiah
Barber, Zaniah Barber, Layla Barber and Christian Barber; Six
