Remembering Dr. Val Brown Sr.

Dr. Val Brown Sr was the second child born on Valentines Day to Daisy Ball Brown and Dr. G.G. Brown on February 14,1924.

He passed away peacefully in his home in Wichita, KS on Tuesday April 20th, 2022 at the age of 98, surrounded by his family.

He was married to Josephine (Pace) Brown on June 25, 1950. To this union were born 4 children - Sheila Jo Kinnard, Dr. Val Brown Jr,

Gratz Alvaron Brown, and Martienne Marie Brown.

Doctor Val Brown Sr., following in his father's footsteps, earned his Medical Degree from Howard University in Washington DC,

and began practicing in Wichita in 1948. Before retiring in 1994, he cared for more than 8,000 patients - marking the end of an era.

Dr. Brown was a lifetime member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and the Sedgwick County Medical Society.

He was also a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, and blessed with 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
