Sovoy
Triplett
May 29, 1933 – June 3, 2022
Sovoy Triplett
passed away peacefully on June 3, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
On May 29, 1933, Sovoy was born in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, to James and Lottie Triplett. He was the seventh of ten children and the fourth of five boys. Sovoy attended school in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, but left school to tend to his family's farm. As a young man, he developed a love for gardening and fed his family from his garden until he was no longer physically capable. He passed down his love of gardening to his children and his children's children.
Sovoy was a kind, sincere man who deeply loved the Lord. His walk with the Lord was his greatest calling. He was a faithful member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church for 60+ years. He served on the usher board, taught Sunday school, sang in the Mighty Men's Choir, and served as a deacon. He leaves behind a spiritual legacy of faithfulness and dedication.
Most of all, Sovoy loved his family. His wife, Lois, and he recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, and with their love, they raised three beautiful daughters, Constance Hadnot, Shonna Black, and Roma Jefferson. All whom survive him. He especially loved his grandchildren and the joy that they brought him, Bobby Jefferson, Ramon Jefferson, Harrison Miles Black, Kendra Jefferson, James Jefferson, Olivia Black, and Eric Cuffy.
He is survived by his two sisters, Versa Nelson & Lorece Gordon, five great-grandchildren, and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lottie Triplett; his brothers, Elmer Manny Triplett, Waymon Triplett, Edward James Triplett, and Armon Triplett; and his sisters, Erssie Pringle, Severa Evans, and Ona Onnie Minner.
Sovoy will be remembered for his fervent spirit for the Lord and his quiet but humorous sayings.
His home-going service will be on June 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas.
