Ruth Ann Lorance, born on August 24, 1930, in Arkansas City, Kansas, peacefully departed from this world on January 1, 2024, at the age of 93.
Ruth was born alongside her twin brother Robert to William E. and Irene (Ross) Harvey. Despite being the youngest of 8 children, her strong - willed spirit and zeal for life made her stand tall, even at 5 feet in stature.
She found love in Presley Thomas Lorance, Sr. who affectionately called her "Chicken Little." Their union of 62 years blessed them with three children: Vivian, Presley II, and Kevin. Ruth and Presley were faithful members of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, devotedly serving on the Usher Board.
An adventurous soul, Ruth cherished travel and explored various states, from Alaska to Georgia, leaving lasting memories wherever she went. Her love for animals was evident through her affinity for horses, her rodeo experiences, and her deep affection for her canine and feline companions.
Sports held a special place in Ruth's heart, especially basketball and football, with her unwavering support for her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Golden State Warriors.
Professionally, Ruth thrived in roles at Beech Aircraft, Excel Meat Packing Co., Jackson Realty, J.M. McDonald Department Store, and Sears & Roebuck, Co., retiring after 25 dedicated years at Sears.
In her later years, Ruth embraced technology, becoming a savvy user of smartphones and social media, connecting effortlessly with family and friends. Her mantra, "Life is Amazing," echoed her infectious zest for life.
Meeting up with her Bridge Club members was a must. The empty chair will be a reminder of her absence. Ruth will be tremendously missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and her eldest son, Presley II. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her surviving daughter Vivian, son Kevin (Barbara), eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Her adventurous spirit, love for people, and unwavering joy will forever be remembered.
