Rosa C. Allen (nee McMurtry)
Born on January 15th, 1941, in Swiftown, Mississippi, Rosa C. Allen (nee McMurtry)
was the cherished daughter of Ellis and Ruth McMurtry (nee Thomas). As one of three
siblings born to her parents, Rosa grew up in a large, loving family, with her father
bringing seven children from a previous marriage and her mother bringing four.
Rosa pursued her education with diligence and later married the late Arthur L.
Mayberry, with whom she had two beloved sons, Elliott Mayberry and Myron Mayberry.
Years later, she found love again with Alton Allen, and together they welcomed her third
treasured son, Joseph Allen.
Raised in a devout Christian home, Rosa learned the significance of strong family
values from an early age. Her greatest passion was to share the "Oneness of God" with
everyone she met, imparting the hope of a better life through the teachings of God's
prophets and messengers. Rosa's unwavering faith and commitment to spreading love
and kindness touched the lives of countless individuals.
Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ellis and Ruth McMurtry, and her
siblings Jannie Roberts (nee McMurtry), Morris McMurtry, Martha Austin (nee
McMurtry), Mary Collins (nee McMurtry), James C. McMurtry, Alcora Eleary (nee
McMurtry), Ellis McMurtry, James Jackson,Thomas Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Robert
McMurtry, and Sanford McMurtry. She also joins in rest her extended children Alton
Allen Jr. and Vicky Jenkins (nee Allen).
She leaves behind her loving sister, Erma Watson (nee Jackson), and her devoted
sons, Elliott Mayberry, Myron Mayberry, and Joseph Allen. Rosa's extended family
includes her children by marriage, Lena Breckenridge (nee Allen), Joyce Hayes (nee
Allen), Elaine Sparks (nee Allen), and Steve Allen. Her legacy lives on through her host
of adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of
whom will forever cherish her memory and the warmth she brought into their lives.
Rosa's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Her memory will
continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding us all of the importance of
compassion, faith, and unwavering devotion to one another.
