Pearl Mae Hawkins On May 20, 1924 Pearl Mae Allmon was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, Crawford County. She was the 4th of 15 children born to her loving parents, Elzie E. and Roxie A. Allmon. Pearl, along with her siblings, was blessed to have God-fearing parents who taught their children the benefits of having a life dedicated to serving God. Pearl's father was a pastor of Pittsburg Church of God in Christ, officially making her a P.K., or preacher's kid. With the size of her family, she quickly obtained the attribute of sharing whatever she had with everyone, and that eve n included kinship. She was affectionately known to all as "Aunt Pearl." As far as she was concerned, once she embraced you, you were family! She made sure everyone felt her genuine love she so willingly shared. Pearl attended Douglas Elementary School, junior high school, and moved on to attend Pittsburg High School. While in Pittsburg, she was united in marriage to Eugene Hawkins. Later, she moved to Wichita, Kansas to be with close friends of the family, Mr. and Mrs. Harrell. Working in ministry became integral in her adult life, while under the leadership of the the late Elder M. Cremo at the Murdock Church of God in Christ. She later united in fellowship with the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Elder C. J. Taylor. She became a licensed missionary, superintendent of Sunday School, and a member of the Mother's Board. She served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Herman Hicks, until her health no longer allowed. With her beautiful sm ile, she used her hands to reach out to comfort multitudes as a gifted caregiver in hospitals, care home facilities, and private homes, referenced by many as their "Angel." Aunt Pearl was a gifted gourmet cook by profession, employed by the prominent families of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Levitt and Mr. & Mrs. Bill Raymond. She loved to try out new recipes and put her twist on them. Other talents and hobbies included reading, working massive puzzles, and playing board games.
