Boyce

Pauline Boyce was born on December 31, 1931 to Abe Smith and Sallie Maloney in Haskell, Oklahoma. Pauline completed her early education in Oklahoma and rural Montgomery County, Kansas. She later moved to Independence, Kansas and graduated from Independence High School in May of 1949. She received her Bachelor's degree and Master of Arts in Education from Wichita State University.
On January 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Clarence Boyce in Wichita, Kansas. To this union, two children were born; Marc Alan and Connie Yvette.
Pauline loved to teach and nurture children. She taught at Isley Elementary, Riverview Elementary, and Griffenstein Elementary Schools for twenty years, leaving a deep impact on her students and colleagues. Pauline retired from Wichita USD 259 in 1980 and devoted her life to her family.
In the coming years she became known as the "Cake Lady," around Wichita. She sold her delicious baked goods and treats to local businesses with her beloved husband and grandchildren. Some of her other well-known hobbies consisted of sewing, gardening and playing dominoes with family. Pauline would attend the Church of God in Christ National Convocation nearly every year and set up a booth with her family to sell her beautiful lace handkerchiefs.
She was a member of Greater Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, Pastor C.J. Taylor and later joined Eastside Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Christ, Elder Donald L. Smith, Jr. in Wichita, Kansas. In 2006, the Boyce's relocated to Glen Carbon, Illinois. The Boyce's became members of Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ, Pastor Bishop William Scott, Washington Park, Illinois.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, parents, and siblings. She is the last of Sallie Maloney's children.
She leaves to cherish in her memory; son, Marc Alan Boyce, Sr. (Camilla), Kansas City, Kansas; Dr. Connie Yvette Boyce McCartney (Stephen), Glen Carbon, Illinois; grandchildren, Marc Alan Boyce II (Mia), Roeland Park, Kansas; Alyssa Boyce-White (Brandon), Kansas City, Kansas; Neal Austin Boyce (Maritza), Temple Hills, Maryland; Nicholas Boyce McCartney, Coppell, Texas; Christopher Andrew McCartney, Glen Carbon, Illinois; Lauren Nicole McCartney, Glen Carbon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Malia Joi Boyce, Bostyn Elliott White, Baylor Ellianna White, Avery Camille White, Cali Rosealina Boyce, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
