Patsy Gomez was born in 1943 and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she spent her early childhood surrounded by her loving parents and siblings. Her family shared a close bond and created many cherished memories together during her formative years. In 1949, at the age of six, Patsy and her family moved to Wichita, Kansas, beginning a new chapter in their lives. She attended Douglas Elementary School and later Horace Mann before graduating from North High School in 1961. Throughout her school years, Patsy was an honor roll student, demonstrating her dedication to learning and her strong work ethic.
After high school, Patsy continued her education and pursued a career in nursing. In 1964, she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification. Ten years later, in 1975, she received her Registered Nurse (RN) degree from the Wesley School of Nursing at Wesley Medical Center. She furthered her education by earning an associate degree from Wichita State University and later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Patsy's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She attended Mount Olive Church of God in Christ (COGIC) during her adolescent and young adult years and later became a devoted member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. There, she became a pillar of the congregation, serving on numerous boards and committees, including the United Methodist Women, the Communion Board, and the Baptism Committee, among many other ministries. One thing Patsy often said was, "I love the Lord, and I love serving my church. "In 1961, Patsy met the man who would become the love of her life, Miquel Gomez. Their relationship blossomed, and on August 30, 1964, they were united in marriage, beginning a beautiful lifelong journey together. The following year, in 1965, they welcomed their first child, Miquel Gomez II, bringing great joy to their growing family. Eleven years later, in 1976, they were blessed with their second child, Rita Gomez.
Patsy devoted herself to her family, creating a loving home and providing unwavering care, guidance, and support for her children. Professionally, Patsy dedicated more than 30 years of service to Boeing Aircraft Company, where she worked as a Registered Nurse Manager in Occupational Nursing. Following her retirement, she continued serving others by contracting with Pro-Med, providing various healthcare services to the aircraft community. Patsy was also deeply devoted to her extended family.
She leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Before her passing, Patsy had the special opportunity to return to Oklahoma to visit family and participate in a tribal ceremony with her beloved Yuchi Tribe, reconnecting with her heritage and honoring her roots. Patsy's life was a testament to perseverance, faith, service, family, and love. From her childhood in Oklahoma to building a beautiful life in Wichita with her husband and children, she leaves behind a lasting legacy through her devotion to God, her family, and her community. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her
