Mitchell "Mickey"
Lewis
March 17, 1940 – May 27, 2023
His Story
Mitchell "Mickey" Lee Lewis was born March 17, 1940, in Paris, Arkansas to the union of John Henry and Ida Lewis.
He spent his teenage years in Altus, OK., but moved to Wichita, Kansas shortly thereafter. He also lived briefly in Lincoln, NE.
Mitchell's legacy lives on through his four children. Terry Menefee (son with Peggie). In 1962 Mitchell was married to Mamie Hogan and from that union Tyress, Jacqueline and Lamont were born.
Mitchell retired from Boeing after 30 years. His passion was art and music. At an early age he pursued his God given talent to draw and paint. He also did woodworking, and ceramics, all of which he shared with the community. His love of music inspired him and Mamie to open their first record store, House of Freedom. In 1984 Music and More Record Shop and Boutique was opened and soon after M&M Community Mart. They were also concert promoters.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, John Ray Lewis and Charles Lewis; sisters, Johnanna Tucker, Wanda Elerbe and Iwanna Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother James Lewis of Wichita, KS.; sons, Terry Menefee (Kathy) of Atlanta, GA.; Lamont Lewis of Wichita, KS.; daughters, Tyress Lewis and Jacqueline Lewis both of Tulsa, OK. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
