In Loving Memory of Mary McDonald

Mary McDonald, of Wichita, Kansas, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on April 30, 1942, Mary was educated in Greenwood, Mississippi, before making Wichita, Kansas, her home. There she built a life centered on faith, family, and service, raising her children and leaving an enduring mark on everyone blessed to know her.

Confessing her love for the Lord at an early age, Mary remained a faithful member of the Church of Christ throughout her life. Her faith was reflected in the compassion, generosity, and service she showed to others.

To know Mary was to know unconditional love. She had a special way of meeting people where they were, loving them without judgment, and making them feel like they belonged. Nobody who entered her home was a stranger for long. There was always a place at her table, where laughter, fellowship, joyful games of Bid Whist, and the familiar smell of home-cooked meals brought people together and turned friends into family.

Never one to shy away from a difficult conversation, Mary believed in telling people what they needed to hear, even when it was hard, because she cared deeply about them. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she had a heart for serving others. To many, Miss Mary was a mother figure, generously sharing her wisdom and loving others as her own. Though gentle and reserved by nature, she was known for her colorful sense of style, rarely seen without a beautifully coordinated outfit, complete with a matching handbag, shoes, and jewelry.

Above all else, family was Mary's greatest joy. Together, she and her devoted husband, Harold McDonald, shared 51 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and unwavering commitment to one another.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Harold McDonald; her children, Roderick Martin, Lederick Martin, Angela Martin, and Donte Martin; her cherished grandson, Dontre McDonald; her brothers, William "Charles" Green (Dorothy), Waddell Green, and Derrick Green; her sister, Twinda "Ne-Ne" Green; and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who became family through her love.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Green; her mother, Clara Meeks; and her brother, Johnnie L. Green.

The love Miss Mary shared, the wisdom she offered, and the lives she touched live on through her family and all those who were blessed to know her. Miss Mary will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.
