Lois A.
Triplett
July 6, 1936 – December 29, 2022
Lois Anna Triplett (McKesson) age 86 passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas. She was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren.
A trailblazer. A devoted wife of 65+ years. Feisty. A woman of many hats. Salty and sweet. A ball of fire. You never knew what she would say or do! To be around her was thrilling.
On July 6, 1936, Lois was born in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, to Alvin and Henrietta McKesson. She was the oldest of five children. Lois attended school in Fort Coffee and Spiro, Oklahoma. She graduated from Spiro High School. In her youth, she developed a powerhouse personality, which the boy who grew up across the street loved.
After high school, she moved to Wichita, Kansas with the boy who grew up across the street, Sovoy Triplett. She eventually married Sovoy, and their union survived for more than 65 years until his passing in June 2022. From their union, they had three beautiful daughters, Constance, Shonna, and Roma.
As the oldest of five children, Lois developed a love for cooking and feeding others, but over time, baking became her most cherished hobby. She was also a devoted Christian and dedicated her time and talents to many avenues within her church, St. James Missionary Baptist Church. She volunteered as a church secretary, the Mission president, and a Sunday school teacher. Lois served her church until she was no longer able. During Covid-19, she learned how to utilize social media to stay connected spiritually through online church services.
She also prided herself on being a dedicated worker and also believed in the value of education. Lois began her career at Clean-o-rama laundry mat on 21st and Grove in the mid-1960s. In the 70s, she began work at Sand Piper Bay Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and retired as the housekeeping director in the early 2000s. After her retirement, she was a lunchroom aide at Hyde Elementary until Covid-19.
Lois obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in Christian Education.
86 years with us was far too short. Her absence has left many feeling that there is a void in their life. She will be missed.
Lois is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sovoy Triplett; her parents, Alvin & Henrietta McKesson; and her siblings, Guthrie McClish, Laverne Lovelace, John McKesson, and Alvin McKesson.
She is survived by her three daughters, Constance Hadnot, Shonna Black, and Roma Jefferson; and her grandchildren, Bobby Jefferson III, Savoy Jefferson, Harrison Black, Kendra Jefferson, Jaymes Jefferson, Olivia Black, and Eric Cuffy; her six great-grandchildren; and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
