Juanita Vanetta
Kinnard
April 14, 1938 – January 28, 2024
Juanita Vanetta (Nina) Ingram was born on April 14, 1938, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Rebecca Berger and Wesley Ingram. She attended Lincoln High School where she was a majorette.
She graduated high school in 1955. Shortly thereafter, she met a soldier, Clyde Henry Kinnard. He was handsome, debonair, and swept her off her feet. They were married August 5, 1956. They "lived the life of Riley" and traveled to Italy, Germany, and Okinawa, Japan.
Clyde was eventually deployed to Viet Nam and she set up residence in Wichita. When he returned to the states, he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and she joined him. After he retired from the Army, they returned to Wichita.
In 1982, she was taught and baptized by Bro. Robert Clemons, Sr., at the 11th Street Church of Christ and became a faithful member. She loved working with the Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Kitchen Ministry.
Clyde began working as a truck driver which caused him to be on the road a lot. She did not like being alone, so Dale Love, Jr., became her surrogate son.
She worked at Coca-Cola, Boeing Aircraft Company and Kohl's Department store over a span of thirty years.
Although she didn't have any children, she and Clyde became legal guardians for Elaine during her high school years to provide her with better educational opportunities in the late 1960's; and for Elaine's children when she was deployed to West Point for Active Duty during Desert Storm.
Nina kept a meticulously clean home. When the Pandemic hit, she was ahead of the times because she was already "a Sanitation Engineer." Nina understood the importance of education and sought to instill its importance to others, and the opportunities it can unlock. She also never shied away from sharing her wisdom with those who would listen, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Nina's nurturing nature and caring demeanor endeared her to all who knew her. With her warm smile and stern advice, she embodied the role of a beloved "Auntie" or "Tia" to Christopher. In 2019, after her health began to decline, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she resided with her sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rebecca Christian and Wesley Ingram; her beloved husband, Clyde H. Kinnard; her brothers, James Batson and Vernice Christian.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Christian, Los Angeles, California, Elaine (Jimmy) Adams, Dallas, Texas; her brother, Michael Christian, Inglewood, California; nephews and nieces, Victoria Hudson, Lee's Summit, Missouri, James Batson, Jr., Kansas City, Missouri, Michael C. Owens, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Dale (Theresa) Love, Jr., Overland Park, Kansas, Erica (Derrick) Macon, Parker, Colorado, Reginald Christian, Inglewood, California, Jessica Christian, Los Angeles, California, Damian (Monica) Love, Forney, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
