John Francis Thompson Jr. was born on March 10, 1965, to John F. Thompson Sr. and Yvonne R. Thompson in Wichita, Kansas. John's educational background began at Dunbar Elementary and Robinson Middle School, and he graduated from East High School in 1983. John was a multifaceted, competitive, and remarkably talented athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track & field.

John committed his life to the Lord and received the gift of the Holy Spirit in 1984. He accepted his call to ministry in 1987 and became a licensed minister under the leadership of Orin H. Boyd Sr. In 1993, John became an ordained elder for the Church of God in Christ Inc. However, John's most remarkable accomplishment was not in his ministry but as a father to his four children, Brandy, John III, Dwayne, and Deron II.

John and best friend, Orin H. Boyd Jr., relocated to Maryland in 1996. He joined the Greater Deliverance Church of God in Christ in Washington, DC, and served in various capacities. However, in 2005, John made a significant decision to return to his roots in Wichita, where he became the caretaker for his mother. He also established JT316 Fitness, training clients in track, speed, agility, and conditioning techniques. He continued his passion for sports as a referee for Wichita High Schools and amateur sporting events.

John leaves to cherish his memory: (daughter) Brandy Scales, (sons) John F. Thompson III, Dwayne Scales, and Deron O. II and (wife, Quinse) Thompson, and eleven grandchildren. Parents: Mother Yvonne R. Thompson, Father John F. Thompson Sr.& (wife, Tywana). Brothers: Tyreace and (wife, Matha) Thompson, Selwyn Thompson, Ramon and (Jacquetta) Thompson, Noris and (wife, Lisa) Henderson. Sisters: Cheleaseand (husband, Williamchele) Holloway, Sherrita and (husband, Cory) Smith, Christine Hollowell, Deborah Thompson, Arnetta Nelson, along with nieces & nephews, stepsiblings Nicola Perry& Steven Jamerson, and sister-in-law Alice Thompson

John is preceded in death by Deron O. Thompson, Trina Thompson, Gregory E. Thompson, and grandchild Coredo Matthews Jr.

John will be forever remembered by his family, friends, and community.
