Ira Lewis

Ira (Lewis) Williams was born on May 24th, 1947, to Fred and Nellie Ann Williams in
Jacksonville, Texas. He was the 6th of eight children. Lewis adored his mother; his adoration
for his mother and siblings carried him through the difficult times in life.
After attending Fredrick Douglas High School, Lewis took his passion for cars to the next level. Lewis was
passionate about cars. In his younger years, he worked hard to afford to fulfill his love for buying cars to
participate in drag races and car shows. Later in life, Lewis found another way to fill his days. He became
an avid watcher of wrestling and cherished both cars and wrestling for the rest of his days.
In 1969, Lewis met and married Gloria Wimbley. To this union, two children, Rosland and
Kenyetta Williams was born. Lewis met Velma M. Roberts-Williams in 1976, to this union they had one
daughter LaShanda Williams. Shortly after their union, Lewis began a 35-year career at Textron Aviation
in Wichita, Kansas, in 1974. After retiring in 2009, Lewis enjoyed spending time with close friends who
offered their unending support to Lewis for 50-plus years.
Early in the morning on November 18th, 2023, Lewis made his transition surrounded by loved ones.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nellie Ann Williams, his brother, Fred Williams Jr.,
and two sisters, Joyce Mae Alexander and Imogene Adams. He leaves behind to cherish his
memories, Daughter's Rosland Williams of Wichita, Kansas, Kenyetta Williams of San Antonio, Texas, and
LaShanda Williams of Dallas, Texas. His brother, Billy Williams Sr. (Genese) of Jacksonville, Texas, sisters,
Nellie Marie Walker, Ethel Williams, and Linda "Brenda" (Willie) Rembert of Wichita, Kansas.
Grandchildren, Chaunce' Peach, Princeton Williams, Megan Williams-Smith (Lorenzo), Courtland
Williams, Langston Whiting, Ashly Owens (Jalen) and Sylvia Hayes (Elliott). Also remaining to carry out
his legacy are 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
