Obituary
Frank Loyce Wooden was born to John Wesley Wooden and Pinky Lean on May 12, 1933, in Gilmer, Texas. His early education was in the Pittsburg, Texas area. He graduated from Pittsburg High School. There he met and eventually married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jean in 1955. They were married 49 years. To their union they had 2 daughters, Dorothea (stillborn) and Shawna.
He furthered his education with receiving a bachelor's degree from Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Received his master's degree from East Texas State in Commerce, Texas. He participated in football, baseball, basketball, track and was an excellent athlete. Nick named "Gustine" by his brother.
After graduating from high school, he was drafted to the army and served in the Korean War. He loved coaching. While at Linden High School in Linden, Texas he took his team to the state championship.
A majority of his life was spent in Wichita, Kansas. A pillar as well as icon in the community. He worked for the Wichita Public School System for 34years. Touching numerous children and influencing their lives. Passionate about their wellbeing and future. Retired in 1992 and after taught a short while at Detamac.
He has multiple trophies for various sports. Later in life developed a talent for golf and taught young children the skill. Every year would take a trip with a group of gentlemen to Orlando, Florida to golf on famous golf courses. One year was blessed to have a hole in one.
"Jack of all trades" very talented and skillful in doing outdoor and indoor chores.
Bro Frank Wooden known to many as a devout, devoted Elder since 1978, President, teacher, active member of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. Demonstrating his faith with grace, dignity, and integrity, giving glory and honor to GOD for all his many blessing of life. Always willing to help, support and be active in the aspects and functions of the church. A true example for all of us to follow
He loved his family and is survived by his daughter Shawna (Wichita, Ks.) Sisters Mary Henderson (LA, California), Betty Beasley (Dallas, Texas). Brothers Willie Wooden (Houston, Tx), John Wesley Wooden known as Mike (Pricilla) (Houston, Texas), Bobby Wooden (Dean), Robert Lewis (California), Aeris his dog, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friend .

A beautiful soul and spirit that will be sorely missed, never forgotten and his legacy will live on in all lives he touched.
