Evelyn Burton

With profound sorrow the Burtons announce the passing of Evelyn Marie Jackson Burton, our beloved mother, who died of natural causes May 4, 2026 at the age of 91.

Evelyn Marie Jackson Burton was born June 16, 1934, in Wichita to Leodis and Mattie Jackson.

She attended nursing school in Anderson, Indiana before coming home to graduate from the St. Francis Nursing School.

Eveyln lived a long life in two acts. The first part was under her own strength. She gave her life to Jesus Christ in 1977 and in her second act sought in word and deed, to leads others to Jesus Christ and salvation.

Her professional years were spent as a nurse, mostly in the field of obstetrics, including several years as Charge Nurse at Via Christi.

She was fond of and very good at quilting and produced other craft projects. She spent many hours playing Scrabble with family and listening to sports on radio.

She is survived by her son Steven G Burton and daughter-in-law Julia A. Burton, and by son Kevin E. Burton and daughter-in-law Jeannette E. Burton.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Leodis and Mattie Jackson, her son William H. Burton IV and her daughter Patricia Marie Burton.
