Obituary

Eugene Anderson was the 8th child of eleven children born to the late Velver, Sr. and Velma(Ford) Anderson on March 9, 1944.

He graduated from Douglass High School in Thomasville, Georgia in 1962. Following graduation, he entered the United States Army and received training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he was pinned with his Airborne wings, and assigned to the 101st Airborne Division until his Honorable Discharge in 1965.

He was a public servant for more than 30 years serving in numerous capacities at the local, state, and regional levels including the Kansas Legislature, Optimist Club of Northeast Wichita, National Business League, A. Philip Randolph Institute, Kansas Commission on Civil Rights, Black Pilots of America, American Legion Arthur Gossett Post 273, and United Builders and Contractors, Inc.

A "man of many hats," he received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Wichita State University, was a restaurateur and caterer for more than 40 years, held a private Pilot's License, a First-Class FCC License, and a Residential and Commercial General Contractors' License.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife Mamie Jewel, Daughters Tamara E. Springs (A. Romell) and Melanie Anderson of Fayetteville, GA; Grandchildren Jenesa Dauster (William), and Brandon Cotman; Great-Grandchildren Mason Dauster, Juelle Daniels, and Chesney Dauster; Sisters - Mary Davis and Barbara Reynolds both of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and special daughter; Ulonda Busanet.
