Obituary

Ethel Storey was born May 4, 1930, in Coal Hill, Arkansas to James E. and Maymie O. Hogan.
She was the third oldest of 10 children. She attended Wichita Public Schools. She was united in
marriage to Bennie W. Storey in the early 50's. Their son, Joseph, preceded her in death in
2020.

Ethel joined Grant Chapel A.M.E. in 1950 and was a faithful member. She served on the Trustee
Board and the Steward Board. She also sang in the Gospel Choir and served on the Usher
Board. In addition, Ethel assisted in the tutorial program. Ethel was always willing to serve as a
captain for Women's Day, Calendar Tea, and other special days. She prided herself in being a
tremendous fundraiser.

Ethel was a very witty and strong-willed person, very direct and told many funny stories.
Needless to say, she was a lot of fun, loved music and loved to dance, even in her later years.

She was employed by Boeing Aircraft for 14 years until her retirement.

With cherished memories, we honor her loved ones who have preceded her in her homegoing:
her husband, Bennie W. Storey; her son, Joseph Storey; her parents, James E. and Maymie O.
Hogan; brothers, James, Wesley and Frank; her sisters, Lillie Chiles, Mildred Kelly, Inez
Dillingham, and Geri Stringfellow.

Ethel leaves to cherish her memory: sisters, Mamie Jordan (Lawrence) and Doris Lee (James),
both of Wichita, Kansas; granddaughters: Alicia Guidry, Siaanna Storey-Poole, and Uraina
Storey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
