Derrick Dwayne Mason Sr., aged 59, born on December 12, 1966, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lola Beard and Joe Mason, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in the same town where he was born and raised.

Derrick was a dedicated family man, known for his love for his wife Alfreta, his children Derrick, Ryan, and Jerrica Mason, and his 8 beloved grandchildren. His brother Dan, sister Felisha Mason, and his father Joe Mason, will remember him as a pillar of strength, whose kindness and love knew no bounds.

Derrick made his career with Ascension Via Christi Home Medical, where he worked diligently in Billing and Coding. His coworkers will remember him as a dedicated professional, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Derrick was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lola.

A funeral service to honor Derrick's life will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 11:00 am at the First Church of God in Christ. He will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Derrick's life and bidding him a final goodbye.
