Dale Eldon
Love Sr.
June 19, 1951 – December 5, 2022
Dale Eldon Love Sr, was born June 19, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Clarence and Ollie Love. Dale would become the eighth of nine children born to this union.
At a young age, Dale gave his life to Christ. He was baptized at the 11th Street Church of Christ congregation. Dale remained faithful to Christ his entire life. Dale completed his education in the Wichita Public School system, graduating from North High School. After graduation, Dale married Elaine Christian, and to this union Dale Jr., Erica, and Damian were born. Later in his life Dale met Sherry West while they both attended church at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, and through this friendship they were later married in 1991 and were blessed to celebrate 31 years of marriage.
Dale believed in working hard and was a great provider for his family. If the work was honest, Dale was willing to do it. He worked at Orkin as an exterminator, respiratory therapist at St. Francis Hospital, and wore many hats as an aircraft worker at Boeing, Beechcraft, and Textron.
Dale was truly in love with his family, extended family and friends. Being a part of Dale's family came with a few expectations you had to live by; going to church, respecting your elders, and holding down a job were just a few. Having a blended family of 7 children, Dale enjoyed attending any achievements that their children accomplished. This included high school and college graduations, marriages, birthdays, being at the hospital when grandbabies were born, piano recitals, attending football and basketball games, school plays, gymnastics, and robotics competitions. Dale also enjoyed watching westerns and shopping from one of his favorite TV channels, HSN.
Dale was always willing to help or give advice when it was needed or asked for. He was also willing to give advice even when it was not needed or asked for. One of Dale's goals in life was to help his large network of family and friends to be the best they could be. Dale did not have a problem correcting you if he thought you were wrong. An admonishment from Dale was how you knew you were loved.
Dale retired from Textron on December 23, 2014. While his health was not optimal, he never let it keep him from serving the Lord. In spite of how he was feeling, when asked how he was doing, he would often reply "tough as nails, hard as bricks!"
Dale leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sherry, children Dale Jr. (Theresa) , Erica Macon (Derrick), Damian (Monica), Corrien Ross (Dontrell), Sicily Bruner (Juice), Senyena Dortch (Carl), Stephen West Jr. (Christine). Brother, Kenneth Love (Teddi) and sister, Marcia Walker. Grandchildren, Alaina Gilkey (CJ), Ashton Love, Cristopher Hill, Ajaya Macon, Asaiah Macon, Austin West, Abri Dortch, Dylan West, Elea Dortch, Jayce and Lyndon Ross. Great-grandchildren, Christopher III, Jon, and Joy Gilkey, along with a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding Dale in death are his parents Clarence and Ollie Love, sisters, Treva Butler, Sylvia Collins, brothers, Morris Love, Orville Butler, Harold "Sonny" Butler, and Ronald "Gene" Butler.
