Obituary

Clarence E. Scott (called "Little Bud" by his mom) was the 10th child of seventeen children born to
Benjamin Franklin and Loucella Scott in Fort Coffee, OK on August 14, 1938. He was born by a
midwife, Queen Frazier's assistance. During that period of time, there was no money available for
such delivery to be performed in a hospital.

He attended Booker T. Washington Elementary Grade School where all the teachers were black. After
grade school, he was bused from Fort Coffee, OK to Spiro, OK to attend Douglas High School which
was another all-black school. He was quite the athlete in high school, playing Basketball and Track
and Field. During his 12th grade year, he was then transferred over to the all-white Spiro High School.
After graduating from Spiro High School, he was fortunate to get a Basketball scholarship to Wayland
Baptist College (now known as Wayland Baptist University) in Plainview, Texas. After playing for two
years, he became the Basketball Manager, traveling with the team throughout Texas. Through much
hard work and determination, he graduated Wayland with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education
with a minor in Business Administration.

After leaving Springfield, he traveled to Wichita, KS where he got a job as a substitute teacher in the
Wichita Public Schools. While he was subbing at Ingalls Elementary School, he met a young teacher
named Amelia Winesberry. This encounter led to a friendship; dating; engagement; and to a wedding.
Since he did not get a job in the Wichita Public Schools, he was able to get a job at Learjet (now known
as Bombardier Learjet), installing wing fairing. Later on, he was promoted to the Spare Part Sales
Customer Service Department where he created many lasting relationships with companies in
Germany; Canada; Asia; Mexico; and the United States. While working at Learjet, he obtained his
Master's Degree in School Administration from Wichita State University.

Some accomplishments along the way that he achieved are Financial Secretary of Greater St. Mary's
Baptist Church; being the first in the family and community to graduate from college; Master of Fred
Douglas Lodge #99; Budget Asst. Director for Grand Lodge; first VP of B. Albert Ford Class 33rd: 33rd
Mason, Western Consistory #18; Honorary Doctor degree from South Central Bible College; small
business owner; and50-year recognition from Wayland University; And 58 years of marriage to Amelia.
He and Amelia have two sons, Timothy C. Scott (Sherri) and William E. Scott (Didi) Host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren
