Chap Hardy,
Jr.
May 19, 1952 – September 26, 2024
Chap Hardy Jr., a deeply loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend was born on May 19, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Chap Hardy Sr. and Rosie L. Hardy.
From an early age, Chap accepted Christ, embracing a life guided by faith and a love of Christ. He was educated in the Birmingham public school system and graduated with pride from A.H. Parker High School. A gifted trumpet player and drum major, he joined the band and subsequently the band fraternity which was one of the brightest moments of his childhood years. These memories and the bonds he forged brought him lifelong joy.
After high school, Chap relocated to Wichita, Kansas, where he embarked on a 30+ year career in the aircraft industry. His strong work ethic and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was a man who never shied away from hard work and always took pride in a job well done.
Chap was the embodiment of warmth and charisma. His radiant smile and infectious laughter could light up any room. He had a rare gift of making everyone he encountered feel valued and loved. A true people person, he built lasting connections with those fortunate enough to cross his path. Beyond his kindness, he was a passionate cook, and his famous catfish became legendary among friends and family. Sharing a meal prepared by him was an experience filled with love, laughter, and flavor, a testament to his charismatic spirit.
Chap was preceded in death by both parents, his loving wife, Cynthia Hardy, his brothers, Michael Hardy and Richard Hardy, and his sister, Denise Coleman.
Left to carry on his legacy are his son, Marlon Hardy Sr. of Wichita, KS; his daughters, Malaika Bell (Bobby) of Wichita, KS; and Amani Porter of Ft. Worth, TX; his cherished grandchildren, Marlon Hardy Jr., Makaila Hardy, Mekhi Hardy, and Jordyn Bell all of Wichita, KS; Eight precious great-grandchildren all of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by his devoted brothers, David Hardy of Wichita, KS and Eric Hardy of St. Louis, MO; his sisters, Andrea Hardy and Rochelle Davis both of St. Louis, MO; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Chap's life will be celebrated and remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
