It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carl Lesley Stovall, who departed this world on
October 14, 2023. Born on February 23, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, Carl was the cherished son of Cleveland
"Bill" Stovall and Florine Stovall. He leaves behind a legacy marked by profound contributions to both the
aerospace industry and the world of music.
Carl's educational journey led him through the halls of Wichita Public School, culminating in his
graduation from North High School in the year 1970. Carl's passion for learning led him to earn a Master
of Business Administration degree from Webster University in 2004. At an early age, he embarked on a
career with Boeing as a technical writer, dedicating over three decades of his life to the company, where
his commitment and expertise were deeply valued.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Carl was a man of immense musical talent and devotion. He served as a
prominent member of the music staff at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where his passion for
music and spirituality converged. His virtuosity as a guitarist resonated throughout the Kansas music
scene, endearing him to countless fans and peers.
A crowning achievement in Carl's musical journey was his role as the producer of the Universal Confusion album, a collaborative effort co-produced by Dexter Sutton under the banner of Straight-Ahead Productions in 1987. This accomplishment stands as a testament to his creativity and dedication to the art of music.
Carl's devotion extended beyond his professional and musical realms. He possessed an unwavering love
for his family and friends, exemplified by his willingness to go above and beyond to assist others. He is
survived by the love of his life, Stephanie Stovall, his sons, Paul Stovall and Perri-Allen Williams, as well
as his grandchildren, Milan Williams and Tamarius Fultz.
In addition to his immediate family, Carl is remembered fondly by his sister, Billie Fae Cole (Stovall), his
sister-in-law, Linda Stovall, and a host of nieces and nephews, including Narvella (Dana) McElrath, Dr.
LaTonyua (William) Rice, Donna Green, Kimberly Stovall, Anthony (Licia) Cole, and Paul (Nadia El)
Washington.
To celebrate the life and enduring legacy of Carl Lesley Stovall, we invite you to a musical celebration AKA
Jam Session. This event will take place on Saturday, October 28th, from 1 PM to 6 PM, 1321 E 25th Street
North, Wichita, KS 67219. This is an opportunity to come together, listen to the melodies he cherished,
and share the stories that reflect his impact on our lives.

Carl Stovall's memory will continue to resonate through the music he created the lives he touched, and
the love he shared. May he rest in eternal peace.
