Mr. Calvin Derand Young, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas on August 2, 2025. Born to Dora L. Young and Bernice Young on November 3, 1958.

Preceded in death by his father, Bernice Young, and brothers Christopher D. and Lance D. Young, Calvin's legacy will continue to thrive through his surviving family. He leaves behind two children, Quinn (Halie) Young and Jessica Scott, 6 cherished grandchildren, and a precious great-grandchild. He is also survived by his loving mother, Dora L. Young, his sisters Vickie L. Wheaton-Young and Laurie Young, and his brothers Kenneth (Marie) Young Sr. and Gary (Cyrena) Young. The love and memories shared by Calvin will also be held dear by a host of family and friends.

Calvin was a man of honor and courage, dedicating a significant part of his life to serving his country in the U.S. Army and retiring from the military.

A funeral service to celebrate Calvin's life will be held at New Jerusalem Baptist Church on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at the White Chapel Cemetery, where his life and service to his country will be honored and remembered.

Mr. Calvin Young – a soldier, a father, a friend. His spirit will forever be a beacon of strength and courage for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
