Christine Jackson

Barbara Christine Jackson, affectionately known as "Bob", was born June 8, 1932, to James & Christine (Porter) Jackson in Wichita, Kansas. She was one of five siblings.
Barbara went to public schools in Wichita and graduated from East High School in 1950.
After high school, she went to Wichita State where she studied music. In 1957, Barbara completed her X-ray Technician internship at St. Joseph Hospital where she worked until 1998.
In 1955 Barbara married the love of her life Anderson "Gene" Eugene Jackson. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Debra and Timna.
Barbara began playing the piano at age nine. Because she had shown a love for music, her mother graced her with a Baby Grand piano at age sixteen. She began playing for the choirs at Calvary Baptist Church and also accompanying her mother-in-law on the organ during church services. In 1965 Barbara and Gene became members to St. Paul A.M.E Church. There she served as the Cherub Children's Choir director.
Barbara was a loving woman of strong faith. She showed you how to be strong even when faced with life's challenges. She also loved to travel, decorate her home, play Slots at the casino, and finally, never tasted a sweet she did not like ! However, most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her and she loved them dearly.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings: Jim, Tommy, and Betty; Husband Gene; daughter Timna; brother-in-law Val; sister-in-law Erma; Great-nephew Val Jean Jackson III, and nephew Val Jean Jackson Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughter Debbie (Leon) Dudley; 4 grandchildren Terrill (Quin) Jones, Brandon (LaToya) Jones, Jami Jackson-Howell and Leonette (Terreance) Ellis; 12 great-grandchildren, Yanavi Jones, Najie Jones, Tamajai Jones, Teryn Jones, Terrill Jones III, Jordyn Jones, Ardynn Andrews, Londyn Jones, Logan Jones, Noah Jones, Tristan Ellis, Jordai Little; one great-great grandchild on the way; one sister Elsie McPherson; one nephew Michael (Deborah) Jackson; 4 nieces, Christine Jackson, Jennifer (Man) Ware, Kimberly (Carval) Landrum, and Stephanie (Rodney) Cousin; Special friends Ida Smith, Juanita Hayes, and Imogene Patrick; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
