Auline A.
Ray
September 29, 1920 – November 3, 2024
Celebrating the remarkable journey of Auline Ray is like turning the pages of an inspiring novel filled with love, faith, and indomitable spirit. Born on September 29, 1920, in Lexington Missouri, Auline graced this world for an astounding 104 years, sharing her vibrant energy with everyone she encountered. Her soul found eternal peace on November 3, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas, leaving a legacy as enduring as her years.
Auline's life was a testament to the power of love, beginning with her dedication and devotion as a cherished wife and mother to her four children. She was more than just the matriarch of her family; she was its beating heart. Her legacy of love flourished with the addition of seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Each holiday, birthday, and simple Sunday afternoon were saturated with her affection and wisdom.
A proud holder of a music degree from Western University, Auline had a profound appreciation for melody and harmony, elements that richly embodied her own life. But perhaps her most cherished stage was the community, where she played an active role, bringing light and laughter to retirement homes and church events at St. Matthews CME Church. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life's symphony of experiences.
We remember Auline not only for her contributions but for her incredible zest for life. Known for her petite frame and her distinct sense of style, she surprised many with her charm paired with a spicy wit and sharp humor that kept everyone on their toes. Her independence was legendary; she navigated life with an astute awareness and a social grace that made her a beloved community figure.
Auline had many hobbies and passions that she embraced with the same enthusiasm that characterized her love for life. She played in her local bowling league, enjoyed playing Pokeno with her friends. In her earlier years she loved to take cruises and traveling throughout the US. She inspired many with her commitment to staying active and embracing life.
Loving and lovable, Auline had a special bond with her grandkids—her pride and joy. She invested deeply in these relationships, reveling in the role of a grandmother with unparalleled enthusiasm.
Today, she rejoins her predeceased son, Austin Ray, and daughter, Zennelle Ray, leaving behind sons Artice Ray and Dwayne Ray to cherish her memory. Her passing leaves a void, yet we celebrate her life and the countless ways she enriched ours.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM, we will gather at the Jackson Mortuary Chapel to honor her legacy, followed by her burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. It's a time for us to reflect, give thanks, and find comfort in our shared love for Auline.
The Ray family extends their deepest gratitude to the Wichita community for its unwavering love and support. Your celebration of Auline's beautiful life is a testament to the lives she touched, a lifetime that will forever resonate in our hearts.
