Ada Mae Wesley, lovingly known as Ada to her family and friends, passed away on August 7, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 86. She was born on June 20, 1938, in Arcadia, Louisiana to the late John L. Underwood and Elsie Mae Wilson.
Ada was a woman of strength and grace, who touched the lives of many with her caring nature and warm smile. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
In her earlier years, Ada pursued her education, graduating from high school and later taking some college courses to further her knowledge. She had a thirst for learning and always encouraged others to reach for their dreams.
Ada was a devoted sister to her brothers Henry, Edward, and Willie Underwood, and her sisters Johnnie Mae Slack and Betty Wright. She was a loving grandmother to her grandson Andraus Wesley and a proud great-grandmother to her great-granddaughter Amilyana Wesley.
Ada will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her unconditional love for her family. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved, and her presence will be deeply missed.
A viewing in memory of Ada along with her brother Walter Underwood will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Jackson Mortuary, followed by a service for Ada and Walter on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Mizpah Baptist Church.
In the wake of her passing, let us remember Ada Mae Wesley for the laughter she brought, the wisdom she shared, and the love she gave so freely. May her spirit continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Ada's life was a beautiful journey filled with love, family, and faith. As we bid her farewell, we take comfort in the cherished memories she left behind and the legacy of love she leaves in our hearts. Rest in peace, Ada, you will forever be remembered and deeply missed.
She will be laid to rest at Wichita Park Cemetery Monday, August 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
